Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo documenting any of the nice things I did for others, but they included helping a man unload a van of plants and offering a hand to my friends as they packed up after a concert – both of which felt good to do; it seems like I usually get back as much as I give. These are photos of the slough – Augie’s body of water – flooding after almost constant rainfall two weekends ago.
However, the rain did clear up long enough on Memorial Day for me to check out the Rock Island Criterion – a bike race on a ¾ mile track:

This last weekend I moved into the house I’ll be living in for my final academic year and went to a wine tasting with some of my friends before having a spaghetti dinner with them. I also received some software for learning the language Sinhala, the native language of Sri Lanka. I’m applying for a English Teaching Assistanceship there throught the Fulbright Program – fingers crossed!
Anyway, I look forward to Skyping with you soon and will have a new challenge up tomorrow evening.
