Hey Chase,
It was wonderful to talk to you today! I am glad things are going well for you!
This is a very late post but I figured I will tell you what I did none the less. For challenge 16 I put some thought into what I wanted to do. I wanted to do something simple but nice for those around me. Words of affirmation mean a lot to me so it is always the first way I show love to others as well. To show that I appreciate them I decided to leave little notes in the mail boxes of two of my coworkers, Sue the receptionist and Julie the Registrar letting them know that what they do matters.
I also wanted to repay the girl who gave Kelsey and I a ride to the Xcel center when we missed the bus. It had been a total stranger about our age that had been running with us down the road because she was late as well and was trying to get home (which was two houses down from the bus stop). We bonded over our lateness and when we truly were too late and all three of us watched the bus come and turn the corner she offered to give us a ride on the way to where she was going. It was a nice gesture that I was impressed by. And I can now say I took a ride from a stranger haha check that one off the list. So Kelsey and I made her a batch of brownies and delivered them to her house.
During this week I tried to be aware of others paying it forward and doing nice things for others. I was surprised to find that there was more unexpected kindness in the world than I expected. For example Kate and I went to see the Hobbit and were standing in line to get some popcorn before the movie. The man in front of us turned around and asked if we wanted a pop on him. He had purchased a combo that came with two drinks and he only needed one so he wanted to pass his second drink onto us. It did not cost him anything but it was also not something he needed to do.
I hope that you have experienced some unexpected kindness as well.
Looking forward to Skyping with you!
I love you!!
Alex
