Hey Chase,
I hope you had a good week. Did you do anything exciting? My week went by incredibly fast! I had a busy week and I suppose that always helps the time go by a bit faster. I went and did something almost every night this past week, which was fun. I can tell you more in my letter.
I enjoyed learning how to make some of the standard iconic origami. It was surprisingly more challenging than I anticipated it to be. I also am not sure if I could remember all of the folds without looking at the instructions. Some of the ones I saw online were very impressive. I stayed mostly with the beginner level pieces.
Did you know that there is ancient evidence of paperfolding in China, Germany, Italy and Spain? I did not realize that. I think of Origami as strictly Japanese.Image may be NSFW.

In the spirit of having a Japanese week, I went out for sushi at a restaurant called Origami in downtown Minneapolis on Friday night. The restaurant has received rewards for its sushi claiming to be the best in Minneapolis. It was very good! We also had Takoyaki which is a delicacy from western Japan. It was five flash fried octopus dumplings, topped with a special sauce. The waiter said this is traditional Japanese street food. I enjoy trying new things.
Tonight I am going to help with an bible study called Alpha. It is a beginner class. I have signed up to help with the kids group. I am then going over to the house that I cat sit for. I will be there watching the cats for the rest of the week. But on Friday I am going to WA to see Andrew and Patti. I am really looking froward to this!
I love you!!
Alex
I am not sure why but when I think of Japan this song always comes to my head. It is a very weird song. It does not make very much sense but is catchy.
